DRYFOB Comes Out of 12-Month Saltwater Immersion Test Looking Like New!

On June 15, 2025, we opened up a pressurized container sealed with a DRYFOB that had been placed in saltwater exactly one year ago.

This test was done to alleviate any concerns about saltwater corrosion of the anodized aluminum exterior when under prolonged submersion. A regular sized DRYFOB was selected for the test but all DRYFOBs are constructed as per the same patented design and manufactured with the same materials, finishing process, and exacting standards.

After 12 months of continuous saltwater immersion the DRYFOB was unharmed. There was no corrosion on the surface, and even though the laser engraved logo looked a bit yellowed, after wiping it down it came back white. The unit looked like new! We assume the initial discoloration on the surface was from the broken-down organic material in the seawater that created sediment over time.

Not only did the DRYFOB retain its surface shine looking like new, but the contents were bone-dry and the unit passed all pressurization tests remaining viable for diving!

While in an active/live environment, there may be buildup of live crustations or other effects on the aluminum surface, there should definitely not be any concern about corrosion of the units or any seal degradation after long term or repeated saltwater use!
